Faith and Action
The mission of Faith and Action is to educate, equip, and empower St. Paul’s and our community to live out our faith in the public square.
Guided by St. Paul’s five commitments, Faith and Action offers the following opportunities for turning our faith into action:
- Faith & Action Sunday Forum | A series designed to educate and inform the congregation on ways to engage with urgent social justice issues.
- Voter Education and Mobilization | Opportunities in partnership with The Episcopal Church and the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy (VICPP) to increase voter registration and create pathways to the polls.
- Advocacy in the Public Square | Connecting individuals with priority legislative and policy issues at the local and state levels to engage to encourage understanding and engagement. These efforts are informed by and shared in partnership with VICPP and Virginia Interfaith Power and Light.
- Prayer Vigils for City, Commonwealth, and Country | On the last Monday of each month at 6 p.m., we gather to pray on the front steps of St. Paul’s in a show of sacred solidarity to witness to the suffering of the most vulnerable among us and lift up our lament, fear, and hope to God’s redemptive and healing power. This service is hosted by St. Paul’s in collaboration with the Downtown Community Ministry.
- RISC (Richmonders Involved to Strengthen Our Communities) | This local, direct-action interfaith organization made up of nearly 30 area congregations engages with local elected officials on social justice issues such as healthy homes, affordable housing, and reducing gun violence.
