St. Paul’s Environmental Stewardship Group Field Trip: Lacy’s Auto Parts

Auto processors like Lacy’s are a key institution for helping reduce the use of natural resources and energy and for keeping as much junk out of landfills as possible. Recycled car parts, which are guaranteed for three years, are also more affordable for people on limited incomes. This visit highlights the environmental, socio-economic, and equity benefits of recycling businesses.
You will see how older cars get taken apart and every possible part saved and later sold, using a massive computer system that sells them nation-wide. This is a high-tech industry and fascinating to learn about, right here in central Virginia!
