Pastoral Care
St. Paul’s Pastoral Care Ministry is at the heart of our community. We strive to support parishioners in their joys, sorrows, and times of transition. Together, we share Christ’s abiding, compassionate, and healing love.
If you or a loved one is experiencing a crisis, illness, or loss, the clergy and lay pastoral leaders of St. Paul’s are here for you. Likewise, if you are going through a joyful transition such as the birth or adoption of a child, we want to support you. Please reach out.

Card Ministry
Parishioners volunteer for one month to send birthday cards to church members for whom we have birth dates. Please send an email to get involved.
Comforting Stitches
Our Comforting Stitches ministry, often referred to as a “prayer shawl ministry,” creates shawls, quilts, baby blankets, hats, and scarves for members of our congregation to be given for comfort or celebration. These hand-crafted items represent the love of Christ and our church community. This group meets at St. Paul’s on Mondays at 2 PM for creative work and spiritual companionship. Cook Angels
Our Cook Angels provide meals to parishioners who are recovering from an illness or going through a time of transition. Meals can be homemade or picked up from a favorite restaurant or grocery store. Meals are delivered at a mutually agreeable time. You can volunteer to deliver meals as your schedule allows. Eucharistic Visitors
Eucharistic visitation has long been one of the ways that our church community extends the Holy Table to include and welcome all those who are unable to be physically present with us during the Celebration of Holy Eucharist on Sundays. A team of trained, licensed visitors bring communion to a rotation of homebound parishioners. Additional visits are also made upon request. Please send an email if you or someone you know would like to receive a eucharistic visit.
Friends in Christ
Our Friend in Christ ministry pairs parishioners to provide one another with mutual support and fellowship. Some partners meet regularly, while others check in on the phone. Please send an email if you would like to participate.
Prayer Ministries
As Christians, we believe that when we pray for each other, our communities, and our world, we open ourselves to God’s grace and mercy. We offer two types of prayer for health and healing.
Corporate Prayer – During the Sunday Prayers of the People, we pray for persons whose names we have received. These names are also published in Grace Notes to encourage congregational members to pray for these individuals during the week. Individuals may request prayer for themselves or others. To request public prayers, please call the church office (804) 643-3589 .
Prayer Chain – Every day our St. Paul’s intercessors, through prayer, join their faith, hope and energy to the healing power of God’s love. The information and concerns are handled confidentially by the members of the Prayer Chain. Requests to this ministry are separate from the weekly parish prayers, though some of the names will be in common. Transportation Ministry
This 30-year-old ministry currently picks up parishioners at Westminster Canterbury, Legacy Village, and Dominion Place. Because these individuals cannot drive, this ministry ensures they can participate in Sunday worship, funerals, and other services. Van drivers must meet DMV approval. They typically drive one Sunday per month. Please send an email to drive the van or request a ride.
Uber Flower Ministry
Members of the Uber Flower Delivery Team take turns arranging altar flowers into small bouquets and deliver them with a card to parishioners who are recovering from illness, loss or other major life events. In addition, we take flowers to those whom we wish to thank and celebrate. We typically deliver up to four bouquets each Sunday. Please send an email to deliver flowers or receive flowers.
