St. Paul’s is excited to offer the Episcopal Church’s course, Sacred Ground. Sacred Ground is a film- and readings-based dialogue series on race, grounded in faith.

Participants are invited to walk through chapters of America’s history of race and racism while weaving in threads of family story, economic class, and political and regional identity. 

Exploring Episcopal Faith: Newcomer and Confirmation Series  

Wednesdays, January 14th – February 11th @ 6:15 PM

St. Paul’s invites all who feel called to participate in our upcoming series, Exploring Episcopal Faith. This series is designed for newcomers, those exploring the Episcopal Church, and anyone preparing for Confirmation, Reception, or Reaffirmation. Whether you’re a lifelong Episcopalian or simply curious, we invite you to journey with us as we explore worship, community, and spiritual growth.

This series is open to youth (8th grade and over) and adults and provides a chance to get to know clergy, fellow parishioners, and the rich tradition of the Episcopal Church. The class fulfills part of the preparation for Confirmation or Reception. Each session will include a breakout session for youth age with specific discussion and activities.

For those preparing for Confirmation, Reception, or Reaffirmation, there will be a follow-up Confirmation Retreat on Saturday, April 18th. 

On Sunday, June 7th, candidates will receive the Episcopal laying on of hands during a special service with our bishop. This is a deeply meaningful moment of public faith commitment.

What Are Confirmation, Reception, and Reaffirmation

Faith at Work is a small group offering that explores the role of the baptismal covenant in the everyday aspects of one’s life. Hybrid meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month from 12:30-1:30 PM.

Lent is a time for coming together. Since 1921, the St. Paul’s Lenten Lunch and Speaker series has brought the Richmond community together. The goal have remained the same: to enjoy delicious, home-cooked food, to cultivate relationships, and to explore timely topics related to spirituality and our common life. St. Paul’s hosts engaging speakers for a midday talk with lunch following the presentation.

Our Lenten Speaker and Lunch Series occurs on Wednesdays at noon during Lent.

Scripture can be complicated and confusing. Gather with Charlie, our rector, and others as we take an imaginative approach to how God continues to be known to us through scripture. Bring your curiosity and your questions to this informal time of fellowship and learning. Held at 9:00 a.m. on Sundays. Everyone is welcome, and no preparation is required.

Standing? Kneeling? Signs of the Cross? Bowing? How to take communion? Our worship involves a lot of movement. There is meaning behind our actions. Episcopalians believe that the way we pray shapes what we believe and who we are. What do these movements mean, what do they say about what we believe, and when and why do we do them (or not)? These mini-workshops take place in the church following the Worship Service on the first Sunday of each month. All you need is your own spiritual curiosity. Held at 11:30 a.m. on the second Sunday of each month, after the worship service.

Knowledgeable tour guides are ready to help you learn more about the beautiful architecture and history of our worship space, as well as some fascinating highlights of parishioner’s stories over the 175 years of our time on Grace Street. Held at 11:30 a.m. on Sundays EXCEPT the second Sunday of each month; other times by appointment.

Consider a time of quiet in your week. On Wednesday mornings at 10:00, members of St. Paul’s gather on Zoom for quiet reflection. The format consists of reading one of the upcoming Sunday’s readings and twenty minutes of silent meditation. Participant are invited to comment on the reading or the silence.

Wednesday Nights at St. Paul’s | Being together is important. As a faith community, we are a people who gain strength in being with each other, sharing a meal, sharing experiences, and learning the ways in which God is present. Wednesday Nights at St. Paul’s are an opportunity to connect, learn, and eat! All are welcome to join us, starting with Evening Prayer at 5pm, followed by a shared meal and fellowship at 5:3pm. Spiritual formation classes are from 6:15pm to 7pm.

St. Paul’s Annual Parish Retreat

Annual Parish Retreat Registration is Open! | Join us for our Annual Parish Retreat at Shrine Mont Retreat Center, located in the mountains of Orkney Springs, VA, on May 1-3, 2026. Each year, we gather together to rest, play, and connect with God and each other. All are welcome to join. There will be fun activities for children and youth, and plenty of fellowship opportunities!
