Children

All children from age three through 5th grade are invited to attend Sunday School at 9 am in Room 113 every 1st and 3rd Sunday. Children experience Jesus through Bible stories, crafts, and play as well as Jerome Berryman’s “Godly Play.” Godly Play invites children to imagine, explore, and wonder about who God is and how God works in our lives.

St. Paul’s has created a dedicated family space within the sanctuary to ensure that children are included as full participants in the Worship Service.

Inside the entrance to the church you will find a book cart and children’s worship bags with activities. We welcome families with young children to a “soft space” near the front of the church by the brass doors. There you will find rugs, pillows, and quiet toys.

During the service, all are invited to join our Gospel Procession, especially children. Gather at the steps when prompted or join as the procession moves through the church during the hymn.

Following the Gospel procession, children are invited to attend Children’s Chapel for children 3-yrs to 5th grade. This is a child-oriented worship designed to bring their faith to life. Children return during the Peace and to participate in Communion.

Second Sunday Family Worship Service | 4:30pm – 5:15pm in Scott Hall | Join St. Paul’s families and clergy for a late afternoon worship service designed for children and families. Drawing from the Book of Common Prayer, this is a casual and engaging intergenerational service with communion. Children and families are active participants in all aspects of this service. 5:15pm | Simple Kid-Friendly Supper

5:15pm | Youth Group and a Simple Youth-Friendly Supper

This ministry matches a child or youth with a caring adult to build faithful mentoring relationships. Quarterly meet-ups are held after worship services throughout the year. Parents are included.

Geared towards children and families, the Advent Fair is an intergenerational gathering. Prior to Advent I, following our 10 AM worship service, we gather in the atrium to build advent wreaths, decorate cookies and other fun activities to prepare for the season.

A beloved tradition at St. Paul’s on Christmas Eve at 4 PM. This is a spontaneous, “grab a costume and go” presentation of the Nativity story. No rehearsals are necessary and all ages are welcome.

A St. Paul’s tradition! Following the Easter Sunday Worship Service, families gather on the grounds of Capitol Square for our Easter Egg Hunt. All are invited!

If you wish your child to be baptized, you and the child’s godparents will need to participate in a two-hour Baptism Preparation Workshop. This is led by the clergy. Children are sponsored by one or more baptized persons who, along with the church, promise to nurture them in their Christian faith.
